Ruby Red Devon Cattle & Beef:
Among the sea of breeds of cattle native to the UK, the Devon breed is often overlooked. But under a farming style which focuses on sustianable production their positives shine through. They thrive on poorer forage, whilst producing high quailty beef prized for its intramuscular fat, which results in tender, flavoruful beef.
The breed achives this while being arguably better for you, with lower levels of saturated fat due to the grass-based diet, higher levels of Omega-3 fatty acids alongside increased levels of vitamins and minerals thanks to the proportion of herbs, legumes and diverse grasses in their diet.
Whilst it is recomended that a reduced intake of red meat is better for you, ensuring that red meat is of the highest quality is equally important.

Here at Upper Unstead Farm, since 2016 there has been a suckler herd of Red Ruby Devon's, introduced to enhance the areas of the Wey Valley Meadows SSSI that we manage, which they do with ease. Since 1972, we have had numerous cattle on the farm, Originally to supply the family's butchers shops. Since 2016 we have made a slow return to the retail meat trade, but with a focus on providing the very best.
