Our Cattle

Ruby Red Devon Cattle

Brought onto the farm in 2016, our herd of Ruby Red Devon cattle are in our opinon the greatest fit for our farming system, originally sourced from the well-known "Tilbrook" Herd in cambridgeshire our devons are all fully pedigree, and run with pedigree devon bulls to produce quality stock suitable for either breeding or the highest quailty beef. As a result our youngstock is often offered for sale for breeding purposes.

Devon cattle whilst originating in Devon have taken up residence all over the world, and are one of a few breeds capable of working well in a "traditional" agricultural system. Their ability to thrive on lower quality forage, but also lead a long productive life, easy calving, calm temperment and relative medium to small size

Devons also fit into our Farming Practices, as they are a naturally smaller breed, with weights ranging from 450-600kg for our cows, they suit "conservation" grazing with their lighter footprint leaving less of an impact on sensitive grassland. This also benefits us with our Beef animals as their smaller size is often sought by "Traditional" Butchers who carry out whole animal butchery, this combined with the heightened intramuscular fat
